For many indie filmmakers or music fans, if asked “When you think of Liverpool, you think of?”…Answer is simple and you probably pondered “the Beatles” as you read that.  For many, The Beatles most popular album is “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”, and the opening line from Paul McCartney is “It was 20 years ago today…” and for the city of Liverpool…today it has a totally different meaning to it.

This morning the headlines in Liverpool read “20 Years Ago Today…”  and it’s a tragic day for friends, family and fans worldwide who support Liverpool Football Club. 20 years ago 96 fans lost their lives at the Hillsborough Football Stadium. The stadium was the playing grounds for Sheffield Wednesday, but it was Nottingham Forrest the boys in “red” we’re playing in 1989 for a FA-Cup semi-final game. This is still the most deadliest sporting event to happen in British Football and our hearts go out to the families, and those who love Liverpool.

It was “20 Hours Ago” where we watched Chelsea Football Club eliminate Liverpool in the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League, and it was the hardest and most heart driven match I have seen our boys play in awhile. The 14 boys who played yesterday all helped score four goals against Chelsea at their home, and made many Liverpool fans proud to wear that Carlsberg across the chest and the Liverpool Crest close to their hearts. Fantastic match, and wish we could have played Chelsea at home next for a win to move into the next round.

Thanks to the friends who posted about Hillsborough and please check out Tom Hall’s blog with two videos about the disaster, also our love and passion that we all sing EVERY TIME our boys step onto the pitch.
